Benefits of an Acupuncture Treatment

  1. Pain Relief: Acupuncture is widely recognized for its effectiveness in reducing various types of pain, including chronic back pain, neck pain, and arthritis. It stimulates nerves and muscles, potentially releasing endorphins and other neurohumoral factors.

  2. Stress Reduction: By regulating the body’s stress responses, acupuncture can help reduce anxiety and improve overall mood. It’s believed to modulate the release of neurotransmitters that influence the stress and relaxation pathways in the brain.

  3. Improved Sleep: Acupuncture can help alleviate insomnia and improve sleep quality by influencing the brain’s neurotransmitters related to relaxation and sleep.

  4. Enhanced Digestive Health: It can regulate the digestive system, which is beneficial for those suffering from gastrointestinal problems like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or chronic indigestion.

  5. Boost in Immune System: Regular acupuncture sessions can enhance the immune system by boosting the body’s natural defenses, potentially reducing the frequency and severity of colds and other infections.

  6. Allergy Relief: Acupuncture may reduce allergy symptoms and can be used in conjunction with other treatments, possibly reducing the need for medications.

  7. Improved Energy and Vitality: Many patients report a boost in energy levels and a greater sense of overall well-being after acupuncture, possibly due to its effects on the body’s balance and flow of energy.

  8. Support for Mental Clarity and Focus: By reducing stress and balancing the body’s energy, acupuncture can improve mental clarity and cognitive function, making it easier to concentrate and focus.

  9. Reduction of Chemotherapy-Induced Side Effects: Some studies suggest that acupuncture can help alleviate symptoms like nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy.

  10. Menstrual and Reproductive Health: It is often used to treat menstrual pain and irregularities. Additionally, it can support fertility by improving blood flow to reproductive organs and balancing hormone levels.

Why Choose Us

TCM Advanced Degree vs: "Add-On License"

VS.

Nicole's Masters Degree
in Oriental Medicine

  • Education: A comprehensive 4-year Masters Degree program that covers various aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), including acupuncture, herbal medicine, whole life balance, and other modalities.
  • Curriculum: In-depth study of acupuncture points, meridians, diagnosis, treatment strategies, nutrition, and additional TCM practices, along with a strong emphasis on clinical diagnosis, practice, and hands-on applications.
  • Clinical Hours: Extensive clinical training is required, where students gain hands-on experience treating patients under supervision. Clinical hours often exceed 2000 hours of hands-on supervised practice.
  • Certification and Licensure: Graduates of a masters degree program sit for the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) exams, which are required for licensure in most states.

Colorado's typical Secondary "Add-on License"

  • Education: Short weekend or monthlong training programs focusing on basic  techniques.
  • Curriculum: Abbreviated courses provide a high-level overview of Acupuncture, not an in-depth understanding of the scope and complexities of Traditional Chinese Medicine
  • Clinical Hours: None required: Original Scope of practice clinical hours  apply,  leading to little to no hands on experience for the provider before they can offer acupuncture services as a part of their existing practice.
  • Certification and Licensure:  No Certification exam requirements:  In Colorado, they would apply for an add-on acupuncture license or “rider” through the state regulatory board.  Not all states allow this rider to be an add on to a  disperate field of study.

Acupuncture generally causes minimal pain. Many people report feeling only a slight sensation as the needles are inserted. Acupuncture needles are much thinner than those used for injections or blood draws, typically about the thickness of a human hair. These fine needles are designed to be virtually painless upon insertion and are used to stimulate specific points on the body to promote healing and wellness. The experience of acupuncture is often described as relaxing, and any initial discomfort usually fades quickly. Everyone feels the movement of Qi (pronounced "chee") differently.  Some describe it as an electric sensation. Some says its startling!
